Supporting Our Community
We’re excited to announce we’ve been named as an inaugural grantee of the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF)! With this investment we’ll be continuing our research and advocacy that advances climate justice and centers voices from Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color in transportation. Many thanks to the organizers and leaders who made PCEF possible, and to the Portland City Council for their unanimous approval of the funding package!
With the support of PCEF, we will continue building on our community engagement work to explore and develop the feasibility for the Coalition to make a greater impact on climate and transportation investments through deeper and continued engagement, participation, and organizing between our priority populations and public agencies, in order to prioritize these essential transportation decisions. We also have plans to explore the potential for direct transportation benefit to our communities through one or more localized, language- and culturally-specific neighborhood mobility & transportation justice hubs.
In addition to our core team that holds the day-to-day together (shout-out to OPAL Environmental Justice, 1000 Friends of Oregon, Imagine Black, Verde, and Safe Routes Partnership!), this year, through a grant from Meyer Memorial Trust, we have been able to provide capacity funding to support Coalition member organizations including Coalition of Communities of Color, Unite Oregon, SunrisePDX, Neighbors for Clean Air, and Community Cycling Center to work more deeply on issues of transportation justice in our communities.
We recently updated our mission and vision to better reflect our work, and we always welcome you to join us on this journey.
